I heard them say they tried to use a new ball every play.  Why?

So they can say "This ball was in play at SuperBowl 50".  Makes for a nice commemorative value.  By the same token, there are American flags that get run up the pole at the U.S. Capitol every few minutes.  Contact your Congressman or Senator if you want one for a Military retiree or other veteran, or for their funeral.
