The Wildfire in Markleevile, California that sent us at Mason Valley Fire & Rescue along with Topaz firefighters. We have 75% contained. However the smoke & ash is getting caught in the jet stream with the wind. And blanketing that area. So I suggest you stay inside to play if you have allergies.

Well reason it is bad there. Is cause wind changed directions on us. So the smoke & ash is flying into NV. We stopped it and contained it from reaching Yosemite on CA side. Which is good cause that is 25% of California's Drinking water source coming from Hech Hetchy Dam. But now we are in trouble cause it is about to reach Topaz Lake. Which is something we didn't want. Cause then we have to shutdown HWY 395 from Topaz to Gardnerville.

Since when is the Markleeville fire 75% contained? Last I heard it was only 10%

Not sure but I looked at the active fire map, said 17,205 acres burned and 15% contained. If I was looking at the right fire.

Just be happy you are not fighting fires in Alaska, that whole state seems to be burning.

Just checked the active fire map. I see good progress being made all over the west. Except Alaska! Holy crap that entire state is on fire. So many that the little numbered circles indicating where the fires are located are out in the ocean.

Alaska currently has 301 wild fires going.

Update here at Markleevile fire. It was caused June 19th at 7pm due to Lightning. Great Basin Team 4 along with NV Lyon County Mason Valley Fire & Rescue & Topaz Forestry & Toiyable National Forestry have been fighting it. We had town of Markleevile volunteer to evacuate their homes and area as needed. It has burned about 18,000 acres. And we have it 99% contained. Are goal and estimated containment date was July 31st. For we wereable to get it from a category 4 down to 3 in less than a month.

As of yesterday July 5. Great Basin handed control over to Washington County on Hwy 4 side and Lyon County on Hwy 89 side. Now both Hwy 4 & Hwy 89 have been reopened for traffic into CA & NV. But police will be doing escorts along Hwy 89 from NV into CA. For us at Mason Valley Fire & Rescue still have helicopters landing & crew on Hwy 89 controlling the perimeter of the fire.

For info on the road closures if open at the time your traveling go to: http://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/htnf/alerts-notices

Well Phe Phe nothing to worry about. We got it out on are side. And residents moved back in and Hwy 89 back open. Just doing boring part clean up. Sifting through ash and climbing trees to cut down. Then us crews get to come back home to Carson & Yerington, NV.  But there is parts people don't see.  8)  ;)  Us having fun with it making it like Firefighters Gone Wild just joking around.

If you are good. I will send pics home of things. Have Holly or B Love show on FB or Twitter or I will do it on mine when I get home.
