Title: toe nails
Post by: caveman on Jan 07, 2014, 08:37 PM
Has anyone had a toe nail lift off the skin but still attached at the cutticle? :'( It dosen't hurt but I think if I go & try to rip it the rest of the way off it is going to. :'( :'( I went to put my socks on when I woke up & I felt something hang. I figured i just need to trim my nail & I pulled my sock back off. The whole nail was layed back. I was like huh how did I do that!!!!! :( :( :( It looks like it has another nail under neath.

Ladies, Cliens, Anyone, & People out there in Mustang Land: What should I do? Just stop being a baby & just rip it off,Go to the doctor, or do nothing & hope it gets hug on something & rips off on it's own !!!!! ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

cut it off as close to the fold, where it turned back, as you can with nail clippers, if it still snags, put a band aid over it for a few days until it grows out far enough to prune off smooth, the 'nail' underneath might be just the nail bed, so be sure to not injure that, the band aid will help with that

What Tom says will work. You can also use an emery board or nail file to smooth any jagged areas. Eventually, a new nail will grow out to replace the failed one.

This has happened to me twice. Both times, it was because I had neglected to trim my toe nails, then I wore my hiking boots too tight, and the toe kept jamming against the boot wall. I remember the nail turned black over a period of a few days, and there was a feeling of soreness, but no hard pain. After about a week, the nail came loose, at which time I did as Tom described.

Moral of the story - keep those toenails properly trimmed, boys and girls, or start wearing sandals or go barefoot.

I'm thinking the whole thing is just going to fall off on it's own. It looks like it is pulled on a angle now so I'm figuring give it a little bit & if it falls off on it's on great if not see if I can pull it the rest of the way. It dosen't hurt it just feels weared. It looks real white. I think the one next to it is going to do the same thing.

:o ouch I had the door in the world bungalow blow open and I caught it with my foot and the rubber bottom of the door sliced exactly between my big toe and the nail just perfect... :'(  ugh I put pressure on my toe until I got into the shower and oh my LOrd wut pain the water shot right underneath my nail and raised it traight off my toe...oouuuu eeeee it gave me a stinging sensation....so I just clipped off most of it and filed the rest then wraped it for abit and used tea tree oil to help it heal  ;)...Thank God for tea tree oil it is a mirical antiseptic healing oil  :D

That's a Whole lot worse than what I got!!!!  Like i said mine dosen't hurt & I don't know how it got that way. I got a black nail on the other foot. It probabbly happen when I was moving snow.  The nail is still hanging on it didn't fall off yet. I'm not in any hurry to just rip it off. I know I need to so hopefully a new nail will grow in nice!

The nail is off!!!! ;D I wiggled it back & forth a few times & it pulled loose from the skin. It looks like there is already another nail under it. My nails look white until I take a picture of them they look yellow. There hard & brittel cutting them sucks.

I heard that white vinegar or pure lemon juice (unsweetened), can help kill any fungus.

Even if the ladies don't solve your toe nail issues, they can make you forget about them for a while.
