Avoid the Sands and all the small places nearby.  Never use stairwells in parking garages if possible.  Itís best to stay at a bigger resort style casino if possible, remember security cameras are our friends as long as you not doing anything wrong.  With that said ďthe wrong place wrong time ... ď expression is always something to be respected. As a working girl you need to be cautious everywhere as not to be caught up or confused for ect...
Ok enough lecture, safe travels.
I respectfully and firmly disagree.  I have been staying at The Sands Regency for at least 10 years now and have no complaints.

Rea,  I've never had any trouble at the Sands and I even stayed there once.  However, that walk between the Sands and the other casinos downtown is definitely a bit dicey.  Of course, women (working or not) need to be much more careful.

Western Village in Sparks has seemed fine to me when I've stopped in there. It's owned by Peppermill.    The only area I'd really take extra caution is in certain areas of downtown.   I try not to walk around downtown late at night outside by myself etc.

And yes stuff happens everywhere unfortunately.

Honestly, I've never felt safer than at the MR (at least as a neurotic adult anyway).  So I wouldn't worry about that.

Iíve lived in Sparks and Reno for the last 35 years. Canít say I have ever had any issues. Short visits to California and Oregon have provided more anxious moments than anything I have witnessed in Nevada. Now with that said there are places in both cities where one must use a little self awareness and common sense but these are not areas that you are likely to visit. The economy of Reno and Sparks is geared towards tourism and officials work hard to provide a safe experience.

Jaggedís recommendations on places to stay is right on. You will feel safe and enjoy your stay in any of his suggestions. The Mustang and itís employees go out of their way to provide a quality and safe experience. On rare occasions I have seen customers getting out of hand but staff was quick to take care of the issue. Recently, I have seen an increased presence of security even during the sometimes slow daytime shift. As others have said you will feel safe and secure on the Mustang property.

There is Crime in every City & Town
As a person living here in the RNO  / Sparks area.
Iwould say that the crime rate in Reno / Spraks is below average
compare to other cities & towns.
Unless U  R  going out to neighborhoods and hanging around up to no good.
Then ... there is nothing to worry about.
The avg tourist / visitiors do not have in trouble.

The Mustangf  is about 10 miles outside of town East on the I-80.
It is an Industrial Park which is out in isolated desert place.
            Very Remotte area

Like somebody said early in the thread.  The Mustang has security.

Not sure if the Mustang has open the Lodge back up ((ACross the Parking Lot from the Mustnag))
But members on here would get a fairly decent rate of staying over night
(( You should talk to the Mustang MGR Tara  & Victoria @ 775 - 343-1224))

If The Mustang Lodge is not open,
If  U R still worried about your safety & crime I would say There R places @ one of the Hotel-Casinos R yoour best best bet, security  such as Silver Legacy, El Dorado, Circus Circus, Then Peppermill,, Atlantis Sands,  Harrah,, in Reno &&   John Ascuaga;ss  NUGGET in Sparks

The FairField Inn 2085 Brierley Way, Sparks, NV   &  &
& Super 8 1900 East Greg Street, Sparks, NV,

R the closest ((about 8 to 9 miles )) to the Mustang
Both near  Exit 21 of I-80

I would consider the area around the Mustang ranch pretty darn safe. It is a little ways out of town so you wont see much of anyone unless they are actually going to the Mustang.
For places to stay the Nugget is the closest and a nice casino to stay at. Also the Grand Sierra Resort would be a nice place to stay. If you are worried about crime you probably want to avoid the places on or around south Virginia street.
You can not use someone else's fire.
You can only use your own. And in order
To do that. You must first be willing to believe
That you have it.

I've never felt in any way unsafe at the Sands Regency, right in the heart of downtown Reno.  Roughly 18 miles to the WFMR.

I wouldn't really worry to much about crime while you are actually at the Ranch for one thing you go through a gate, and there is a lot of security working there 24/7.

I want to say it was 2 years ago at this point I am sitting in the bar all of the sudden 5 or 6 guys appear to respond to an alarm. The only thing missing was the theme song from cops playing in the background. Once you are actually on the MR property don't worry about crime unless you plan on doing something you shouldn't do.

As for hotels someone else will have to answer this part of the question, but I want to say Pepermill the Nugget is also fairly close to the ranch.  But I am not up on that. I always just stay whichever hotel is offering the room discount for the bowling tournament I am in town for.  Either way you will be fine good luck.😎

So, while planning my trip to visit Mustang Ranch, I was looking at this neighborhood watch website which says the crime rate in Sparks, NV is high and the chances of being a victim is above normal  :(  :-[  :'(.

With that being said, I was wondering if there is any truth to that and if the area around Mustang Ranch is pretty safe.

Also, I was wondering what the closest hotels/resorts are to Mustang Ranch. I thought someone mentioned at one time that one of the hotels gave "discounts" if their guests also booked a trip to Mustang Ranch. I could be wrong. Thanks.
