Title: Good hotels to stay at
Post by: Navyguy on May 03, 2021, 08:20 PM
Anyone around know of good places/prices to stay while in the area?  I know some of the reno casinos are decent in pricing, depending on the day.  I plan on staying there from like Mon-Fri to avoid any weekend events.

I used to sty at the Holliday Inn at the Visa exit ( 19 ) I think it was.  It is on the way to the ranch and I don't ever go downtown.  You can park in the back and not go thru the lobby.

Just pitch a tent in the Mustang Parking lot. As long as you book at least one party per day you will have access to a shower you won't need a hotel room.😉😁

I do recall staying at the ranch 4 years ago when I was last there.

Needless to say, I am looking at the week of June 7-11 or so as making my way out there.  Something I am definitely looking forward to.

While it's not exactly across the street, I favor the Sands Regency right in the heart of Reno.

For several years now, I have been staying at the Western Village Hotel in Sparks.  It doesn't look great from the outside, but it is 15 minutes from the ranch.  It is owned by the Peppermill owners and the rooms are really nice.  They have several good food outlets and there is free parking all around it.  The best part is that it is $50 a night most of the time.  Highly recommend.

I enjoy staying at the Peppermill casino, they have an amazing spa that makes for a great out date location to get a couples massage :)

Mmmm...I like you style!
Couples massage is a great way to awaken the senses and have the lovers ready for delicious debauchery with their bodies stimulated and still smelling of massage oils...

Anyone know of how much an Uber/taxi costs from the casino's to the ranch?  At this point, I am debating if I should get a rental car (its like 100$ a day) and if its worth the back and forth in the long run.

I always get a rental because I do not want to deal with antiquated taxi rules that also apply to rideshare services like Uber and Lyft for some reason...  Right now rental prices are thru the roof due to car shortages but should come back down hopefully soon.

However, to answer your question currently with Uber it would cost roughly 6.20 plus 1.16 per mile each way without surge pricing or rush hour rates.  About the same for Lyft but much more for a taxi.  If I am staying in an area like Reno that is not pedestrian friendly I quickly end up saving money just getting a rental versus constant Uber trips and that is before factoring in the specific affect of a taxi taking you to a brothel if you then end up deciding to party.

You should call the office to ask about whether they can pick you up if intending to party as per-covid they offered ride services for free from Reno so that may be a better option as well if available.

Let me give you a little heads up on getting a rental from the airport. Once I got a rental from Dollar Rent a Car and " AFTER " I got home they added $177.00 to my card.  Budget added $133.00 to my card on a different trip.  I was on the phone for ever with these  POS.

With any car rental there is a premium cost to rent it right at the airport versus two miles away from the airport.  Also I prefer Enterprise even if it's a couple bucks more a day because they're less likely to waste my time with shenanigans or shadiness like you experienced Cobia

If you want a lady's opinion, my favorite is GSR for the nice  pool, great vast restaurant choices from the Steakhouse to simpler stuff like California pizza and (at least in my personal experience) always nice customer service. Now if you are thinking of taking a lovely lady out on an outdate,  the Steakhouse at Atlantis is really impressive and delicious. Perfect to start or end a romantic evening out.

BTW, I'll be at the house on the beginning on your visit (my June tour is from June 16 to 23).  Please don't hesitate to say HI if you feel inclined.

Wishing you a wonderful and very pleasurable trip

I strongly, STRONGLY, let me say it again STRONGLY recommend you getting a rental car to have freedom of coming and going not only to the ranch but anywhere else during your trip (or even only to the ranch if that's your solo reason to coming to Reno on this trip).
With the current shortage of Uber/Lyft/taxi drivers due to many people still preferring to stay home collecting unemployment instead of going back to their driving jobs it might be quite challenging to get a rides, specially at not so central locations.

Rent the car unless you are like me and can't legally drive a car.  Trust me it is better for everyone if you drive yourself out. Uber lyft taxi are all treated the same when it comes time to book the party. Which is not a good thing. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Unless you truly have no other options to get out to ranch.  Rent a car, or walk from downtown Reno😉😃 in the long run you will be happier because the lady you book will be happier trust me on this one.🤘🏼

I usually stay at The Mustang when they have rooms available for guests or at the Silver Legacy because that's where I like to gamble & they have nice rooms, easy close covered parking, a variety of restaurants & you are downtown which I still enjoy as opposed to GSR which honestly drives me crazy in their maze! Lol

GSR has a bowling Alley though. Granted I only actually bowled there once with a certain female buddy we won't discuss on here.

Anyway GSR has a bowling Alley and has a lot of shows and other stuff to do. I just never stay there because its always too far away from whatever event I'm actually up there to bowl in. Well that was before C19.

Now I don't know when or if I will be back up there again anytime soon if ever because of personal C19 related fallout, but that too is another story. Not to be discussed on here. Besides even before C19 things always tended to come together at the last second for me.

Nice Alley, 50 lanes if I remember right.
I really despise the parking situation there & that it's out away from everything else. When it was orig built as the MGM Grand it was literally by itself, nothing around it

It is a nice Alley I don't remember how many lanes. I only bowled there once. 3 games with a certain female friend that even to this day will always be special to me and have a special place in my heart.

Anyway she suggested we go bowling, and other than the stadium it was in her opinion the nicest center close to the Reno area.

So once we got there I paid for 3 games for her and 3 for me.

Even though it was like 4pm for whatever reason they were doing a cosmic thing. Which meant the lanes were dry, and I left my plastic lanes are Dry as 💩💩 ball at home in California. So I wasn't going to worry about my scores.

Anyway my female friend doesn't hardly ever go bowling.  So while my scores were not what I wanted. They were as you.would expect still higher then hers.  She did hiwew actually do a little bit better than she thought she would the first two games. She said I must have been good luck for her bowling game.  She then decided to talk a little smack, and said I'm going to beat you this last game.

So I thought🤔🤔 I have many wonderful memories with this girl. I'm going to let her win the last game I think to myself.🙂🙂 However I had to make it look like I was still trying she would get mad at me.☹ If I made it to obvious. I'm sandbagging the last game to let her win.

So we roll on through this last game. She is doing fairly well by her standards because she never hardly ever bowls. and she Is using a house ball. Im using the weakest ball I had with me. I was an alternate in a tournament that I didn't actually bowl in. Which is why I had two of my bowling balls with me, and I was free that afternoon to go with this old female friend bowling at GSR.

Anyway so I was making a point too miss easy spares here and there aim for just the 7 on the first shot. Stuff like that just to keep it close. without intentionally throwing it in the gutter. We get to the last frame. I think she shot something like 75 or 80. So I'm going to try and throw it in the gutter but make it look like it wasn't intentional. Easier said then done. I put it out to like the 2 board, but unlike the first two games before I decided to sanfbag without being obvious. Unfortunately this time the ball came back. For like  9 count. So unfortunately I wound up with something like a 94 and won the game anyway.

The problem was because of my efforts not to score,  but make apprar like I'm still trying. I must have picked up some bad habits or something. I went in a slump for 6 months. I had problems break 115 most of the time.

It wasn't till 6 months Later I'm in Reno again for a tournament I actually bowled in at the stadium, and this same old female friend came out to watch me bowl in the tournament, and be my personal cheerleader for that event. That I snapped out of my slump.

After the tournament was over. This old female friend and I went out for  a late  lunch early dinner to spend a  little more time together as friends. Before we parted ways☹ and I went to bed for a nap for a few hours. Anyway before we parted ways my friend tells me I well. I told her she was good luck for me because I had been bowling like💩💩 the privous 6 months.

The moral of this story. I'm not a good enough bowler to sandbag. I highly doubt life will ever actually allow this particular female friend and I to have a rematch on the bowling lanes. However if her and I ever have that rematch. She is going to have to practice. I have zero problems if a woman bowls better than me. But this friend of mine will need to earn her victory, or find a way to distract me, because I am just plain and simple not a good enough bowler to sandbag one game, and then.turn it back on  like a light switch.

I'm not really familiar with Reno, but when I googled GSR it kicked back this address.

2500 E 2nd St, Reno, NV 89595.

Silver Legacy is the hotel on Virginia st.

When I got picked up at Legacy for that bowling outing with my female lady friend for our bowling outing. It took several minutes to get to GSR from legacy. We were on the freeway for several minutes. GSR is a nice place. But if you have a reason to need to be close to down town Reno GSR ain't the place it's a little out there.

If you have ever stayed at South Point in Vegas GSR would be Reno's answer to South point in Vegas.

I'll also put in a good word for the Silver Legacy, it's my go-to hotel if I'm staying in Reno.  You're bang on the money SixT9er with the close-by parking, and some really good restaurants in the walkway down below.  Millie's 24 is my favorite stomping ground there, but there's plenty of other places to chose from.

I haven't bowled at the stadium since 2019 unfortunately Covid knocked my last scheduled event  there out of the box.

Last time I actually, did bowl there was December of 19. Just after the remodel which I don't think was completely finished yet.

The lanes were brand new though. We were  the first event second squad after the new lanes were installed. They were so new they really hadn't settled yet even my old plastic ball from the late 90's was hooking like one of my newer reactive resin balls.

Basically none of my friends or myself all bowled like 💩💩💩💩

Bigfoot who just happened to be in the Reno area that weekend picked me up later that night, and we  went over to Mustang.  I spoke briefly with several ladies. Lena was Bigfoots date for the night. But I spoke with her briefly before her and Bigfoot excused themselves. I was going to say hello to her before her and BF went MIA because I promised her I would let her put  a face behind the post before I left town.

Worked out though  I didn't have to when she saw me talking with BF she put 2 and 2 together. Something tells me all the ladies at mustang are good at math.😄

I spoke with several others. Brandy I liked her approch she just showed me her go to move to  get a guys attention way to soon.

I also Spoke wirh Vera and a few others. They were all friendly and they all had some appeal.

I was however on a ultra tight budget so I wasn't going to jump into anything.

I was about 10 minutes from making the decision not to book all. When Arizona put me in the mood.  Given the world went all wacko 4 months later its probably a good thing I did book something because unfortunately I don't know when or if I will be making it back to Muatng or any brothel again any time soon if ever. The fallout from the pandemic will have lasting repercussions on my life moving forward.

As for bowling at the stadium again!  That too is up in the air. I hope to get a chance to bowl there again. I bowled so poorly last time new unsettled lanes or not. I would like to be able to go out on a better series.
