How do you all deal with overly negative people?  Listening to them complain about everything just gets very draining. Seriously, one person still complains about teachers from 30 years ago etc.   OK fine once - but this is everytime a certain group of people is together etc.   I feel like screaming - get over it already!    Another constantly complains about some weather person on TV.  I have actually said in a joking manner - Why are you watching her if you dislike her so much?

In recent years especially, I'm trying not to be that way.   Still, I wouldn't be considered a super positive person either.  However, I do try to enjoy life.  Thoughts?

You ain't going to change them. Some people can get in your mind and really mess with you. They will always be around ain't no way to completely avoid them. Just dont let them own you.

That is true.  Some people are so negative about everything.

Easy complain to them about your shit.💩💩 Probably won't change them, but at least will force them to stay silent for a few minutes.😄

I try to provide overly negative people with positive insight on the situation or show them how they can make the best of every negative situation.

Be blunt - Just say "I don't like talking about people negatively behind their backs.  Why don't we talk about someone you admire or respect?"  You're not insulting the person but you also won't have to listen to them complain.

I totally agree, it takes some skill to be able to swerve a super negative person/conversation into a more positive frame of mind. I have to avoid some people after I see this trait in them. It can also be helpful to like laugh a lot and talk about things you like or that inspire you and not really feed into their spiral. I find that Laughter is contagious.

Super complainers just want the attention.

They never could get attention by doing something valuable, so they resorted to the negative.
(Notice they don't have anything to show for all their complaining.)
